About

DRUMSCO is an East London Japanese pop-up izakaya and supper-club project founded by two Japanese drummers in 2017, with Bo Ningen drummer Monchan (Hiro Amamiya) closely associated with the cooking and hosting. Its events bring Japanese comfort food, music culture and a playful, informal atmosphere to cafés, arts venues, weddings and private parties.

Vibe

DRUMSCO started in 2017 with two Japanese drummers, Bo Ningen's Monchan among them, and still feels closer to a good night at an independent venue than a restaurant. The Toconoco pop-up leans on yoshoku, Japan's own reading of Western food: a seasonal vegetable terrine, crispy prawn kadaif or a renkon and avocado fry, beef-stew or tomato omurice, then matcha ice cream with daigakuimo. Relaxed, community-minded and generous.
